Our Hale Na


As I walked up the cultural learning center on the dirt road, I could smell the charcoal burning in the air. KOA Haole where once existed, remained the only black sticks. Firefighters Station # 26 in Wai'anae Air 1 helicopter was directing the Wai'anae Kai Forest Reserve where so many of our rare native Hawaiian plants were at risk of water drop bucket. The Wai'anae Valley June 6th worst in recent memory was a day after the fire. And, unlike the previous fire, it destroyed our beloved Na'auao Hale.
