Although the Database is not my area of expertise this article attracted me to read, and I encourage you to check it out and see how Microsoft changing the game strategically, and how that affect Dynamics AX 2012 specially in Decision Support Systems (BI, and Reporting)
Office 2013 which builds PowerPivot and Power View directly into Microsoft Excel as data-exploration and visualization options available from the ribbon menu.
